Express Entry
This is the primary way managers immigrate to Canada. Express Entry is the most excellent option for managers wishing to relocate to Canada. Express entry is a point-based system that assigns you to a certain Express Entry pool based on your performance in previous rounds. Individuals can migrate to the United States through employment and earn permanent status if they are invited.
How this program works
This program has minimum requirements for:
- skilled work experience
- language ability
- education
If you meet all of the basic requirements, your application will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- age
- education
- work experience
- have a valid job offer
- English and/or French language knowledge
- adaptability
These characteristics are part of a 100-point grid that is used to determine whether or not you are eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker Program. You receive points based on how well you perform in each of the six areas.

Minimum requirements
Skilled work experience
Working in one of the following National Occupational Classification (NOC) job groupings qualifies you for skilled work experience:
- Managerial positions (skill type 0)
- Professional positions are available (skill level A)
- Jobs in the technical and skilled trades (skill level B)
You must demonstrate that you worked in your primary occupation while performing the duties indicated in the lead statement of the occupational description in the NOC. This includes all necessary obligations as well as the vast majority of key responsibilities.
Your professional work experience must be relevant to the following:
- You must have been working in the same industry (and with the same NOC) as the job you intend to list for your immigration application (called your primary occupation)
- Paid work (having been paid salary or earned commission—volunteer work or unpaid internships do not qualify) within the last ten years
- 1 year of continuous work or 1,560 total hours (30 hours per week)—you can achieve this requirement in a variety of ways.
Part-time work experience
Your expert work experience must have included paid employment, such as a salary or commissions, in order to be considered. Volunteer work and unpaid internships are not included.
Part-time work might be more or less than 15 hours per week as long as it totals 1,560 hours. You can work more than one part-time job to obtain the hours required to apply. We don't count any hours you work more than 30 per week.
Student work experience
Work experience obtained while studying may be used to meet your minimum requirements if the work:
- That it was paid through salary or commissions
- It was continuous (no breaks in employment)
- and met all of the Program's other standards
Language ability
You must do the following:
Take certified English or French language tests in the areas of writing, reading, listening, and speaking and achieve a minimum score of 7 on the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) in each of the four abilities
Fill out your Express Entry profile with the test results.
Your language tests are valid for two years from the day they were completed. They must be valid on the day you submit your permanent residence application.
Education
If you attended school in Canada, you must have a Canadian certificate, diploma, or degree:
- secondary (high school)
- post-secondary (college) institution
If you have foreign education, you must obtain a completed credential and an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) from a designated organization for immigration reasons, demonstrating that your education is equivalent to a finished certificate, diploma, or degree.
Proof of funds
Unless you can establish that you and your family have enough money to settle in Canada, you must show that you have enough money to:
- work lawfully in Canada
- have received an authentic job offer from a Canadian company
Adaptability
As a business professional, Canada is a fantastic place to call home. The country's biggest cities (such as Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary) rank at the top of the world's most livable cities list. This is due to a variety of factors.
For starters, the people are generally pleasant, there is plenty of open space, and many cities have enormous parks. Due to the abundance of space, Canada's largest cities have more parks than many other large cities worldwide. Calgary has even been named the world's cleanest city.
In addition, there are numerous outdoor activities close to the major cities. The Rocky Mountains, for example, are only an hour away from Calgary. Vancouver is also close to the stunning North Shore Mountains and the Cascade Mountains to the south. If you enjoy being outside, Canada has much to offer.
The climate in Canada varies depending on the province you live in. If you live in northern Canada, prepare for bitterly cold weather and summer of fewer than two months! The southern border provinces, where most Canadians live, have warmer weather. Throughout the seasons, you should be prepared for extreme cold as well as extreme heat!
