Is a visa required if I am transiting via Singapore?

Foreigners transiting through Singapore do not need visas if they stay in the Changi Airport transit area (Terminals 1, 2, 3, or 4) and do not go through Singapore Immigration.
If their airlines do not have the requisite transfer capabilities, foreign travelers may be obliged to pass through Singapore Immigration. In these circumstances, the foreign tourist should apply for a visa ahead of time to avoid any problems when transiting through Singapore.

When should I apply for a visa to travel to Singapore?

You have up to one month to apply for a visa before your scheduled arrival date in Singapore. It is unnecessary to buy your plane tickets before applying for a visa, but you should mention your travel plans in your cover letter.

Who decides whether or not I will be granted a visa?

Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority will process and decide on your visa application.

What is the best way for me to pay for my visa fees?

Please pay A$31 in cash only at the Singapore High Commission in Canberra's Consular counter.

Is it necessary for me to make an appointment to submit my application?

To submit your application, you do not need to book an appointment. During office hours, you may submit your application in person.

Is it necessary for me to submit my actual passport with my application?

When applying for an entry visa with the Singapore High Commission or our Authorised Visa Agent, VFS Global, you must present your original passport for identity verification purposes.

What is the best way to verify the status of my application?

Please email us at visa cbr@mfa.sg to check the progress of your application if you applied through the High Commission. You can check the status of a visa application submitted through one of our Authorized Visa Agents online using the VFS Reference Number and Date of Birth. You might want to look at their websites' “Track Your Application” sections.

Is it possible to withdraw my application once it has been submitted?

If we haven't started the procedure yet, you will withdraw your application. To cancel, you must submit an original copy of a letter signed by you.

Will I be refunded if I withdraw my application before the deadline?

We regret that we will not be able to refund the visa application money because it is a processing fee, regardless of the visa application outcome.

Will I be informed as to why my visa application was denied?

You will not be informed of the particular reason for your rejection.
